PW-5 World Class Glider

The PW-5 glider is the winner of the World Class Glider Competition organized by Federation Aeronautique Internationale. The competition requirements were simple but safe design and good performances. This glider is to be introduced into a series production in order to popularize gliding all over the world. A new class of gliders will be established (i.e. Wordl Class); in competitions held in this class all pilots will have equal chances. It is one more step closer towards having gliding as one of the events in the Olympic Games. The design of the PW-5 glider was developed by a team of scientists and students of Technical University of Warsaw under the supervision of Roman Switkiewicz. The production of the glider was placed in WSK "PZL-Swidnik" S.A. This factory has not only many years experience in manufacturing of gliders made of epoxy-glass composites but also produces withit`s 5000 emploeeys helicopters, medical equippment and components for the international aviation industry.
